Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd were commissioned by Central Bedfordshire Council to produce a detailed model of the existing surface water drainage system to establish the cause of flooding to adjacent properties.
The analysis involved the use of detailed topological surveys along with Anglia Water sewer records to build an accurate hydraulic model of the existing drainage network. By simulating a range of rainfall events it was possible to identify problems within the existing drainage system and evaluate the benefit of alternative remedial solutions.
Wormald Burrows Partnership Ltd devised an innovative engineering solution which, in line with Environment Agency requirements, diverts adjacent overland flows around the existing development, and increases available capacity within the current surface water drainage system.
